Not every trip needs a two-week itinerary and a minor identity crisis. Sometimes you just want a Europe getaway that feels instantly rewarding: walkable streets, good hotels, strong food, and enough culture to justify the flights—without overplanning. This guide covers five long-weekend destinations in Europe—Florence, Prague, Amsterdam, Budapest, and Lisbon—picked for their atmosphere, design-led stays, and the kind of days that unfold naturally: museum mornings, market detours, aperitivo that turns into dinner, and nights that feel a little cinematic.
One of the most charming Italian cities is definitely Florence. Gem of the Italian Renaissance, Florence will offer you unique cultural landmarks and heritage, tasty cuisine, typical wines and unique boutiques and cafes. For a classy and elegant stay you should choose the St. Regis, Italian Renaissance palace recently refurbished and opened as a luxurious hotel. For a modern and cozy accommodation, we recommend the Relais Piazza Signoria, which has multiple rooms with a unique view in one of the city’s main squares.

Florence is one of the cultural capitals of Italy so there is a great number of cultural institutions to choose from - we recommend to have a look at the temporary exhibition at Fondazione Palazzo Strozzi. If you are a first-timer you should definitely visit the Uffizi Gallery. We also recommend to visit Palazzo Pitti and to have a stroll at the Giardino dei Boboli with a unique view of the city. To have an even more incredible panoramic view you should go to Piazzale Michelangelo during sunset hour - it will be very crowded but it is definitely worth it. If you are a fashion addict, we recommend to pay a visit to the Gucci Museum.
Food-wise in Florence you cannot go wrong: our fancy choices are Gurdulù, Gucci Osteria da Massimo Bottura and Regina Bistecca. For a quick bite out we recommend to have some focaccia or ham and cheese in one of the typical bars in the city center.
Prague is one of the most fascinating cities in Europe. It is a very cultural and traditional city, yet very alternative and modern. If you are searching for a different kind of destination Prague is the place for you. Our hotel recommendations are Carlo IV, The Dedica Anthology for a luxourious stay, and Augustine for a more modern, classy and unconventional set up. We advise to have a walk in the artsy and alternative area of Mala Strana, in order to take some distance from the big crowds that you might encounter in the most touristic spots.

If you are a modern art lover, check out for temporary exhibitions at the Fair Trade Palace, which is part of National Gallery Prague. For a romantic view on the water our preferred choice is Kampa Park. For a trendy yet classy destination you should go at La Dégustation Bohême Bourgeoise, in which you will be able to find traditional culinary delights revisited in modern style. For a breakfast or brunch you should definitely pass by Smetanaq.
Amsterdam is probably one of the most common destination for a European weekend getaway - and understandably. The Venice of the North is the perfect escape for friends or partners that would like to have a city weekend in a lively, green and busy reality. If you are searching for a fun weekend, Amsterdam should definitely be the place of your choice!

For art lovers we recommend the Van Gogh Museum and the traditional Rijksmuseum. For architecture and science lovers, the place for you is the NEMO Science Museum - here you could also grab some lunch or breakfast with a view at the bar. Amsterdam is charming all-year around: its canals, vegetation and atmosphere are just unique. We advise to stroll around, get lost and discover the city without a tour guide. If you would like to be surrounded by some green or have a morning jog we advise to go to Voldelpark.
Our culinary choices are very diverse: if you are an unconventional and open-minded individual we advise Supperclub; if you prefer a royal setting and luxurious vibes The White Room is the place for you. For an healthy bite out (and for avocado lovers!) we recommend The Avocado Show. For the matcha addicts among you, Matcha Mafia is waiting for you!

Budapest is one of the most photogenic cities in Europe. The dramatic skyline that Budapest is most famous for is peppered with 19th-century architectural wonders alongside the Danube River. Notable landmarks include the majestic riverside Parliament Building and a collection of stunning basilicas.

Our hotel choices are Four Seasons Hotel Gresham Palace and Corinthia Hotel Budapest for a luxurious and classy stay. A trip to Budapest really isn’t complete without visiting one of its famous thermal baths, some of which date back to Roman times. A favorite is the astonishingly pretty Art Nouveau Gellért Baths with their embellished columns and huge blue pool. Tourists and residents alike come to marvel at the tiled walls, painted domed ceilings, mosaic floors and acres of stained-glass windows.
For a summertime evening or night you should go at the High Note SkyBar to have a panoramic view of the city’s roofs. Another lively area is the Jewish Quarter, full of bars and pubs. Costes Downtown or Fáma are your spots for a relaxed and gastronomic cuisine. Budapest is also famous for its cafes: our choice is the New York Cafe.
Lisbon is probably the most trendy and cool city to visit right now. The seven hills on which the city sits form a vast natural amphitheatre that collects and reflects light. The pale stone buildings, many painted yellow, pink or ochre, send the light bouncing around the hills; innumerable windows redirect it into the deepest and narrowest of alleys, so that even the shadows seem radiant, reverberant.

Our alternative and hip choice to stay is the boutique hotel AlmaLusa Baixa/Chiado. For an unconventional and classy stay you should choose Memmo Alfama Hotel Lisboa, famous also for its rooftop terrace and cocktail bar. For an elegant and classy dinner you should choose Belcanto and for an easy and green lunch is Prado. For an unconventional dinner with great food and cabaret Beco Cabaret Gourmet is the place for you.
